Issue Position

I would explore the statistics as it relates to the prison populations and overcharging. I want to examine the inequality problem of longer sentences for smaller crimes. In that same vein, I would look to pass legislation that makes it easier for the restoration of civil rights for convicted felons and re-integrating from incarceration into the community.

Other items on my agenda will include adequate funding for public schools, improvement of public transportation; propose legislation that would make certain that road travel is less congested. I will also fight to ensure Medicaid and Medicare are properly funded but also support programs that promote healthy living as preventative health measures. It is also important that legislative changes are made so that immigrants are not hampered in securing employment with bureaucratic red tape such as the E-verify system.I will also propose funding for life skills training for our youth.

Moreover, the economic development plan that I intend to initiate has the potential to bring money to our community which will result in the reduction of crime and thus the improvement of the entire community. Lastly but of utmost importance, I want to make sure that our streets are safer, reduce crime and ensure that our law enforcement entities are adequately and appropriately funded by the state legislature.
